The Donnelley Brothers

The boys have been watching these to videos of tap dancing before going to bed, and they like to say that it’s Fin and Teo dancing (the Nicolas brothers) and Fin, Teo and Owen (The Berry brothers).

So here you go, “Ladies and gentelmen, the Donnelley brothers!”

Problem solving

Today they were fighting over a glove. They both wanted it. Teo was in the potty and Fin took it because Teo wasn’t using it. The book “How to talk so your kids will listen” has a section where they suggest writing a list of solutions to solve a problem, given by the kid. In this case, two kids. Here is the list they came up with:

Teo:

  • when Teo is done with potty, Fin gives glove and Santa (a little figure) to Teo- rejected by Fin

Me:

  • forget about the glove and let’s all go to make a puzzle together- rejected by Fin and Teo

Fin:

  • Teo plays with Santa- Rejected by Teo
  • Teo plays with cars and bikes- rejected by Teo
  • When Teo is done with the potty, Fin will use it, and after that, Teo can have the glove- rejected by Teo
  • Teo dances on the table and tries to pull out the glove from Fin’s hand- APPROVED by Fin and Teo

Definitively a solution I would not have come up all by myself… they ended up just talking how much fun would be doing this, how could they do it, all excited… and in the end they just played with something else together. How nice.

Kauai

Yes, we just came back from Kauai, and a side from Teo having an ear infection and the two of them having conjuctivitis… it as a great trip, what a place….! We’ll definitively come back, tons of hikes to do… without sick kids. Kauai, we’ll be back!

Daidie’s bday Day

We had a lunch at home to celebrate Daidie’s birthday just with the family. Afterwards we went for a hike in Marin Headlands. Happy birthday Noni!

When I am four…

For the boys, being 4 years old is the best age one could ever be. If there is anything they can’t do right now, it is for sure that when they are four, they will be able to (in about 4 months…): touching the ceiling, jumping on one foot, drive a car, all these when they are 4.  And all those foods they never eat or try right now? They’ll eat it when they are 4 too… I can’t wait. ;-)

Castle

Yesterday we passed by the City Hall, and Fin said: “Look, there is a castle! It has golden things, just like in Linda’s books (teacher in school)!”

Thanksgiving cards

At school, all kids made cards for their families and a parent asked them what were they thankful for and wrote down what they said. Here are our kids cards.

Postals

Picture of the 4 of us!

Thanks Susi for sending this pic, it’s hard to get the 4 of us in a picture. This was taken in Wisconsin, a couple of weeks ago.

birthdays/aniversaris

Today at dinner we were talking about birthdays and Fin said: “Teo’s bday is March and mine is March 2nd”

Letters/cartes

Noni wrote a letter to the boys to thank them for their “help” during her bday party, and they just absolutely loved that. They kept on asking me to read it to them again and again. So… if you have some free time and want to make them happy, write them a letter (to each one of them)! They will love it!

Policia red i Policia vermell

At bed time we always read them a book and then I tell them a story that I make up. At the beginning I would choose the story, but lately I let them tell me one thing each that I incorporate in the story. The problem is that they have been asking for the same thing for the last week: a red police and a blue police. I can’t think of any more stories about a red and a blue police man, any ideas??!

Madison, Wisconsin

A few weeks ago we went to Madison, Wisconsin for Sumner’s wedding. We only had the iphone for pics and didn’t take very many… but here they are!

Halloween

Well, finally I get to post the pictures from Halloween. We celebrated it at school twice, once on the weekend and then on monday, we had a small walk around the block. Guess what they dressed up as… frogs!

We are lucky to be at a school that is right next to a beach (Ocean Beach). We only need to cross one street and we are there. Fin and Teo always want to go there. When we started school we would meet with some of the school parents and children, but now that it’s colder, we are just by ourselves. What a treat to have such a wonderful space so close!

Loosechange practice

Owen has been going to practice with Loosechange this last months, they are practicing for the SF Hip Hop festival. When practice is early enough, we take the kids, and they LOVE it! I bring a tupperware with oatmeal and milk and cinnamon, and they just enjoy the show and the food. From time to time they get to run around and do some cool footwork. Oh, the vending machine is a hit too. All those buttons to push…

The show is next weekend, and the boys and I will go see it a the theater, how exciting! Go Loosechange!

Nopalito

Fin and Teo have already a favorite restaurant in SF. Nopalito! “

“A vibrant neighborhood Mexican kitchen, celebrating the traditional cookery of Mexico and utilizing our philosophy of purchasing local, organic and sustainable ingredients.”
Their favorite dish: EMPANADAS. They just devour them!
Here is Fin enjoying the food…

Magnatiles

Recomanat!

Anya

Anya was our babysitter when we lived in Berkeley. They miss her so much! We saw her at Daidie’s party and they were so happy! Here a few pics of them while in Berkeley.

Snack at the deck

Berenar a la terrassa

Leaves

Today as we walking  I was pointing out all the leaves that were on the ground, winter is coming, getting cold…blah blah blah… and Teo jumps and says: yes, the leaves fall on the ground and then the wind comes in spring and puts them back on the tree”.

Noni’s 70th birthday party

We just came back from Occidental where we celebrated Daidie’s 70th bday with all her friends. It was fantastic, magical, live music, dancing, amazing food and lots of love. The next day we met at Howard’s for breakfast and then went for a walk at OAEC. So beautiful! Most of the pictures are mine, but there are a few from Jim from OAEC, but they are so beautiful I had to add them. They are a bit out of order. Happy birthday Noni!

Sunday Streets-MIssion

We went again to the Sunday Streets in the Mission. TONS of people out, enjoying the good weather. So many people got Fin and Teo a little overwhelmed, but we managed to “skoot” some streets and get a slice of pizza at Arizmendi. Even the boys talked to a police men (which for some reason Teo is now afraid of…). I like this events.

Pancake party and Kirby Cove

Yesterday we had a great day. We started out with a pancake party with Moriah and Phil (and Soren, Matisse and Emi) and Dorota (and Kaio). they all came home and we ate yummy pancakes and the boys played together really nicely. Afterwards we decided to go on an adventure to Kirby Cove, a beautiful 1 mile hike down (and up later) to a beach with beautiful views of the GG bridge. The day was warm and beautiful. What a day!

Star wars???

A pair of boys at school are obsessed with Star wars (as are their parents), and go around the school singing the movie’s tune and throwing themselves on the floor with pretend guns or spades. Now Fin and Teo do the same at home, imitating their friends and throwing themselves on the floor (no guns yet) and singing something like the tune. Obviously, they have no clue what Star Wars is, or even what a movie is! Anyways, this scares me a little bit…

San Pedro Valley County Park

Ens ho vam passar molt be, i tornant vam anar a sopar a un restaurant mexica.

It’s time for some digging!

Our garden is looking quite bare… but we have a great crew digging everyday, and building a deck and starting a small vegetable garden. I think pretty soon we will have a beautiful garden out here…

Uncle Rob in SF

So uncle Rob came a few weeks ago for a visit. It was his birthday! It didn’t go exactly how we had expected. That same weekend we were supposed to go to Stinson Beach with some friends. BUT… Teo started having pain on thursday night at the abdmen and then the next morning… to be short, we spent most of our weekend in the hospital, thinking Teo had appendicitis… We could spend very little time with Rob or our friends… leaving the hospital Teo was sad we hadn’t been able to sing Happy Birthday song to Rob, we even had bought two croisants at the hospital cafe to put a candle on it! Anyways, what uncle Rob did do was give two great gifts to the boys, a rocket for the beach (HUGE success) and an art box, that we are going through quickly, it’s super cute. Thanks uncle Rob, and hope next time we see you is a bit more relaxed…

Daddy would want to open it

We got a new vacuum cleaner, and the mail man brought it today. They wanted to open it right away (think big box) and I didn’t want the big mess right before we left. I said, let’s wait until daddy gets here. Fin just said: “I think daddy would want us to open it now.”

Dia a dia

Cement slide at Codornices Park (Berkeley)

Ultimate frisbee in Berkeley

Operation

The operation for Teo’s hydrocele went fabulous. Only a few hours in the hospital and we were home. They had me put on a full rabbit suit so I could come into the operation room with him until he was asleep. He was amazing, no crying, no complaining. Nice job Teo! It’s all good now. I though these pictures of me with the suit were worth adding to the blog.

Chez Panisse 40th

Chez Panisse celebrated its 40th birthday over the weekend, and we went to a morning event where we were allowed to manually grind flour, touch the goats (they were supposed to be milked, but we didn’t see it) and eat some fabulous food made by the children from The Edible Schoolyard.

First two days at school

It all went great. I only took pictures outside, one of these days I’ll take some inside so you get a sense of what it’s like. We all love it. Yey Sunset Coop! Will tell you more about it another day…

Strawberry picking with our CSA

This is a post I should have done a couple of months ago… here it goes!

Our CSA (Eatwell) organizes from time to time outings for the members, one of them is straweberry picking which we went this year with the boys. They didn’t taste ANY strawberry, but had a lot of fun picking them. Afterwards we got to see the rest of the fields, tractors and even the house the owners are building, made out of earth. We got back home with plenty of strawberries for us and our neighbors…

Engax’it

Ho he sentit varies vegades i em fascina. Diuen: “mom, is really hard to enganx’it!” o “I want to enganx this”. L’owen no els enten mai. Curios.

Classe the gimnastica a Berkeley

Lawrence Hall of Sciences

FROGGIES

It all started when Noni a long time ago gave the boys these little froggies. They play so much with them, that after time, they have become their “alter ego” where they will say: “Froggie doesn’t like this” (meaning, I don’t like this), or if they hit one each other they’ll say (froggie did it!). It’s pretty amazing to hear. Over time, we’ve lost many froggies, but luckly Noni keeps on getting more, or variations on the original “Main” froggie as they call it. For a while froggie had a great friend, “Cornillius”, a little rabbit that Katya gave them for Christmas. They don’t play with it as much now, but froggies, yeah, they ride on every train, tractor, car, bus or truck there is in our house!

Why?

Teo has started the fase of asking “why?” for EVERYTHING. Why do we go there? Why do you like this? Why is this red? And also, it’s impossible to finish a book before he has asked at least 100 questions about it. It’s pretty cute, but I wonder how long it will last??? ;-)

Ardenwood Farm, sheep shearing

This is from a long time ago, but I just saw the pictures and thought I would post them. It was fun!

Steep Ravine cabins

Last week we took the kids to the Steep Ravine cabins, between Stinson and Muir beach. The location is amazing, just above the water. We made a fire (the boys love it!) and went to sleep with the sound of the ocean… They are just a few cabins, no water or electricity, they can fit up to 6 people. I definitively want to go back.  We played at the beach during the day, went out for dinner, spent the night at the cabin, and went for a hike the next morning. It was really nice, really recommend it. The pix aren’t great, we forgot the good camera and these are made with the iphone.

Avi i Iaia a SF 9

Els dies que van ser aqui vam anar a Big Sur, Monterey Aquarium, Pinnacles Monument, Point Pinole, Sonoma, Target (he, he)… i l’Owen i jo vam poder fer algunes sortides de dia i de nit mentre els avis feien de cangurs. Visca! Us trobem a faltar pero per sort tornareu a ser aqui d’aqui a 2 mesos.
